The number is only part of the system.
Lift or drop height gets you started. Ride quality, travel, alignment, tire size and supporting geometry decide whether the finished vehicle actually works.
Lift kit vs. leveling kit
A leveling kit mainly raises the front to reduce factory rake. A lift kit changes more of the vehicle’s ride height and may require shocks, control arms, track bars or driveline correction.
Shock height must match
A shock needs the correct extended and compressed length for the suspension’s operating range. “Fits the vehicle” is not enough when lift height has changed.
Long arm vs. short arm
Long-arm systems can improve link geometry and travel on larger lifts, but require more involved installation. Short-arm systems package closer to factory mounting locations.
Lowering is a system too
Springs or spindles set stance, while matched shocks, alignment range and available travel determine whether the vehicle stays controlled and comfortable.
Coilovers vs. separate springs
A coilover combines spring and damper around one assembly and may allow adjustment. A separate spring and shock can be simpler and entirely appropriate for the application.
When shop review matters
Large lifts, heavy accessories, towing, aggressive tires and major lowering all change the setup. Hurrey’s checks the whole combination instead of approving one isolated part number.
